So, here we go...

Some weeks ago, we had at Meier Studio, a new workshop, and that was very important for me, including the fact that two of my best friends was there: My cousin Roberto Pereira, and my University friend Raphael Martins.

Here, I´ll show the pictures taken before the workshop, while we were preparing that ok?

My good friend always present Carlos Antunes(Moy Shan Si)and Guilherme(our official stunt man in Meier..hehe) were going to do a Mai San Jong presentation. And those were they trainning. And me standing just looking.

Hello Moy Yat Clan!

Now I´me here to talk about the birthday celebration of Simo, my Simo, Daniela Camacho.

With the courage and hard work of Carlos Antunes(Moy Shan Si) with the help of Sisok Ursula Lima(Moy Lin Ma), the celebration happened at Bistro Restaurant. The owner of the place, let us close the doors just for Kung Fu Family.
Carlos brought a Karaoke too! (Oh man!hehe)
My dear friend and kung fu brother, Valdimir Anchieta(stand up), make the oppening speech.
Sifu Julio Camacho and Simo pay attention.
That was the principal table, with Sifu and the discipules. On the Pic, you see the blond one, Paula Gama(Moy Gam Ma) , and by her side Sisok Ursula(Moy Lin Ma), and by her side, Xenia D'avila(Moy Sing Yat). Sifu is dressing pink on the picture.
Me(dressing yellow) and Vlad(by my right side dressing white) are discipules too, but we kind like to seat with the guys and eat like pirates telling stories(that you never know if thats true or not) and eat like ocean wolves.. hehehe
Oh! The kids table! Cards, playing , light food and loud voices!
That beautiful young lady are Sifu´s youngest daughter Julia Camacho. And we registred her first Yi Ji Kim Yeung ma!! hehehe very nice!
Thats me again, my fiancée Karol, and from Meier Studio, Felipe Mury.

Meier Kids first trip To the Mogun.

Hello everybody,

Two weeks ago, we had a great event: The first trip of the children of Meier Studio to Moy Yat Ving Tsun Headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.

Unfortunally, the little Thiago Thiers(7 years old) stop the trainning before this hystorical day, and the member Marcelo Moreira(11 years old) had a exam at school in the Saturday morning when was going to happen the trip.

This way, me(Moy Fat Lei), Karol, Paula Gama(Moy Gam Ma), Carlos Antunes(Moy Shan Si),Felipe Mury and Guilherme Farias, went to Barra, transporting the three members: Rafael Evaristo(12 years old), Rodrigo Evaristo(10 years old) and Lucas Eustaquio(12 years old).
(Rafael was the first to enter inside Mogun (MYVT-Rio Headquarters). Sisok Fernanda Neves(Moy Fei Na Tat) was there to receive them.)

As soon as they arrived, we started to prepare the Yam Cha, but Rafael found the Baat Jaam Do(Ving Tsun Knives) and was a big problem convince them to return to the Yam Cha.. hehehe ^_^
(In the begginning, Sisok Fernanda, and my young kung fu brother, Claudio Pamplona, prepare everything by themselves, and the three misters just stay looking!)
(But that dont take too long, as soon as Karol and the boys brought the food for Yam Cha, they started to work. )

While we were eating, some kung fu stories was told, some stories about chinese manners on the table too. The three boys had a lot of fun. And after that, we started something that we call here by the name of "Mogun-Tour", that is a Tour by over the place, with a MYVT member introducing to the visitor all the things inside Mogun.
So, I guide them ...
We´ve started by the room were the Certificates of Master Julio are on the wall. The guys pay a lot of attention, but I think: "If those were Math Certificates? I would have so much attention like these?" hehe
After that, we went for Muk Yank Jong(woodden dummy). That was the first time that the three guys see the Jong in front of them.
This box, contains all the instructions to build a Muk Yan Jong, and a DVD with the voice of Sisok Marcelo Abreu´s wife in cantonese saying all the movements inside de sequence of the Jong.
But of course I said: "So you see guys, inside this box we have all the secrets of Moy Ya Sang Clan for Muk Yan Jong". hehe Just use the word "Secret" with children who play martial arts and "the world is yours" like Scarface.. hehe
Thats the moment when them saw the principal wall (Jing Tong) of the Mogun. They liked a lot of the Jiu Pai of Sifu Julio Camacho.

After that,I asked to Carlos Antunes(Moy Shan Si) trainning with all the people and the three guys. And when the children of the Mogun came, we trainning all togheter, but those pictures are with Dai Sihing and Sifu, next post I bring to you.

So, after the trainning , we went to the chinese restaurante nearest to Mogun.
We had 20 people ! A lot of children! Including the Vladimir son Daniel (3 years old) !! hehe
For some reason the music theme from Goonies by Cindy Lauper was on my head.
After a hard trainning in 2000, when I came from school all day, I used to watch my favorites japanese cartoons on Tv like Sailor Moon,Tenchi Muiyo, Dragon Ball Z, Sakura Card captors etc.. hehe and while I was doing that, I used to eat Lamen (a kind of yakisoba) using the chopsticks. So now, I have some authority (hehe) to help the children of those.Lucas in on my side, Rafael is the long hair in the middle, and Rodrigo, his brother is on his side with long hair too.
The little Amanda had some problems with the chopsticks too.
Now Luana Reis have some problems with chopsticks too and Paula is trying to help her too.. ok,ok...

So people, I´ve made a video-clipe with all the pictures of Felipe Mury´s camera, but I´m in my work now, just tomorrow I´ll send it from home!!

SIU YE KUEN SPECIAL

As I ask on the portuguese BLOG every time that we have a emotional post, please, this time go for download the song: "Sweet child of mine" , under the voice of Sheryl Crow. That song was track in the OST of the 1999 movie, "The Big daddy" with one of my favorite stars, Adam Sandler!
I think this song is good for this post, cause we´re gonna talk about the "Siu Ye Kuen"...

"Siu Ye Kuen" is a chinese term wich means something like "martial art of the young lords" or even "The Fist of the young lords".

If you have ever seen the Jet Li´s movies called "Fong Sai Yuki 1 or 2" or even the recent "Fearless" , you may notice that people calls his charcters as "Young Master" , and if you focus on the sound, you will listen them say "Shao Ye" (the mandarin pronunce for Siu Ye, or Young Lord).

This term, is about the past, the traditional chinese families, hire Masters to take care of their children education. Those masters were responsable for teach them things like: traditional caligraphy, culture, good ways on the table, and of course Martial Arts.

So, this way, the education of these "young Lords" was almost entire connected to the Sifu teaching.

Our patriarch Chan Wah Shun (Jau Chin Wah 1849-1911) was the master who maked the Ving Tsun very famous inside the chinese traditional families, finally receving the denomination of "Siu Ye Kuen". This way, Master Chan Wah Shun, was able to teach inside Yip Family´s propriety, and have our legendary patriarch as a student.

About Rio:

Last year, my good friend, Roberto Viana and Marcia Velloso, started the work with children at our branch. Some months later, Sihing Leo Reis[moy lei wong] and Sisok Fernanda Neves[moy fei na tat] took the project, and made that very famous inside our clan.

So today, we have : Lucas, Luana, Jade and Pedro as the Rio de Janeiro Branch Siu Ye Kuen students.

In these classes they can learn : Ving Tsun History, Chinese Culture, Ving Tsun techniques [based in Siu Nim Do], etc..

Last december, and this year in February, we had two workshops for children at Meier Studio. There were a lot of children, but only in May, Mrs. Teresa, a dedicated grandmather, looking for some martial art for her grandson, found us in Meier. She talked a little with me, liked the Ving Tsun, and took the little 7 years old Thiago Thiers [yeah! Same name as mine!] for start Ving Tsun.
At left dressing blue, is Mrs. Teresa, and at her side, we have Thiago. The boy who was responsable for the begginning of this categorie of trainning at Moy Yat Ving Tsun Meier Studio.

Just two weeks later, I met Rafael and Rodrigo Caputo. Two brothers who also lives in Meier neighborhood and like a lot martial arts.
They started in Ving Tsun and called another two friends of their school: Lucas and Marcelo.

I have to say that in the begginning I was a little terrify, cause I would have to deal with persons about 7,10,12 years old. but today their classes are one of the moments that I have more fun inside my "stormies" weeks.

Today I dont have words to express the feeling when I´m with them. Cause till today I can remember my first martial art Instructor, Wanderley Sensei in Judo. And also the second one some years later, Flavio in Tae Kwon Do.

They were two persons like heroes for me, and this feeling cause some deception too. So I´m just trying to act as a Sihing with the help of some kung fu brothers like: Guilherme , Felipe Mury and my fiancée , Karol, who is also helping us at Meier with the children.

This way I think I can represent a little my Sifu Julio Camacho.

I hope that some images and a little clipe that I made, be able to express those moments!

So next week I took a Gwan from the Rio de Janeiro Branch, I show that at Meier. They liked a lot. And we play with that like the legend of Leung Yi Tai at the river.
So, I pick a pen, put it on the pole, and asked them to try to write the ideogram "Muk" or "Mù" (who means wood). That was really fun!
Now, if they have any problems they can make a "wood ideogram" on their enemies' bodies. Like Zorro when he makes the letter Z with his sword. hehehe
"WWE moment"!!! In another ludic moment. Rafa and Lucas are trying to "steal" the Jong´s arm from Marcelo. Who has two legs and one arm, and a brain to use his Ving Tsun to dont let this happen! Cause one hand have to hold the Jong´s arm.

MEIER : SIFU

Hello Moy Yat Family,

has been a long time.

So, as I posted some time ago , the new Moy Yat Ving Tsun studio in North Zone of our city is going well. And yesterday, we received Master Julio Camacho, my Sifu with all the new students.
We also had the presence of visitants, parents, special guests like Carlos Antunes, my bride , etc..

Four students from Meier received a invite of Sifu, to participate in next Traditional Cerimony of our Family. They are:

Gustavo Santos:

Sifu called the Dai Sihing of Meier to go to Chum Kiu.

Felipe Mury:

The skilled Mury also is now going to Chum Kiu.

Guilherme Farias:

One of the Biggest hearts of the studio, Guilherme, is also going to Chum Kiu.

and Carla Bastos:

One of the greatest students of Meier, now was invited to join the Moy Jo Lei Ou Family.[Moy Yat Clan].

So, we had a rainny afternoon. Before Sifu comes, Guilherme and Carla prepared all the things for this event. They stopped a little, and helped me with the Siu Ye Kuen class[kids class] of 14 hrs. with Rafael Evaristo, Rodrigo Evaristo and the new ´Siu Ye´, Lucas. Then, we´ve back to the work, and sometime later, my young kung fu brother , Carlos Antunes, showed up. ´Cause he was one of the special guests of that afternoon.

Sifu always talk about Sam Fat [ way of the heart] , and Carlos is a good example of that concept. He´s always there. No matter what, Carlos never go back with his words.. he´s one of the most dedicated guys in Mogun.

So, me, Carlos and Mury went to the front of the place to wait for Sifu. Sifu arrived at 16:50 hrs. The meeting was 17 hrs. So we had 10 minutes to show the place once more time to Sifu, so he could see the changes.

We all went to the room, closed the doors, and started the talking. At that time, the room was still a little empty, but we didnt know that this time, all the Meier students was coming..

So, sometime later, the children also came and their parents. At last, Marcia, the Dai Sijeh of Meier Studio and her boyfriend joined us, and we had now all the group. Sifu was very happy when saw that. Me too.

[Now a little one: You may see that yellow snack in the middle of the pic right? Take a look. That is a snack called ´Fandangos´. A very famous snack for children in Brazil, wich dont have any nutritional value.. hehe Sifu of course maked a lot of fun of that, saying: ´Ok, now I really see that I´m in a ´Teenager branch´. K´mon, Fandangos??´
hehehe

So, back ...

Sifu was very touched about what he saw, new students, parents, old students becoming more mature, etc.. so he said something:

´Are you seeing this blank white board? Do you believe that all the lines of Da Vinci´s Monalisa are here? I´m saying to you, the lines are here. You just have to pick the pen, and start to follow the right lines, and make a Monalisa too. That´s the difference of a ordinary look and an artist look. When common people look at the board, see it blank. When an artist look at the board, see an image.I cannot see it too,cause I´m not a painting artist. . It´s very easy to look to a big tree and see it, but see a big tree when it´s not there, you have to look with the heart. That´s the same here on Meier,I see a lot of heart here,I see a lot of people with potential, so I´m fine and confident with this branch, with Meier. ´

So, I end this post with those touching words of Sifu about Meier Studio.
We all doing our best there.
So Moy Yat Family, stay fine too ´cause the legacy still going on in Rio..

{ Marcia Velloso, my young kung fu sister, is dressing blue and jeans in the pic. Moy Yat Ving Tsun Meier Studio, is located inside Marcia´s place called Dharma Space. Where you can make dance classes , Yoga classes, and Ving Tsun. Marcia is a todai of Master Julio Camacho. She was presented to the Family by Paula Gama[Moy Gam Ma] , one of the Master Julio´s closests dai gee. And is in Chum Kiu}
{You can see by the side of the ´Siu Ye ´Rodrigo[the young one with the hat] , a girl dressing black. She is Carla Bastos. Carla lives in Meier, and she is the third girl starting trainning Ving Tsun in this studio. First, we had: Erika, Priscila and now Carla. But just Priscila joined the Family. Erika had to go back home in the south of our Country. So, this way, Carla can be the second girl in Meier to join the Moy Yat Family. As the days pass, Carla is creating a bigger link with her kung fu brother in Meier, and with Sifu. We are very honored about that, ´cause in Brazil, specially in Rio, martial arts is always menitoned as a men´s activitie. And Priscila Borges and Carla Bastos bought the ´fight´, and are trainning hard make themselves stronger inside.

CONGRATULATIONS TO : GUSTAVO SANTOS, FELIPE MURY, GUILHERME FARIAS AND CARLA BASTOS.

ALSO TO: CARLOS ANTUNES, THANKS FOR SHOW UP, AND CONGRATULATIONS FOR HIS SPECIAL MOMENT IN THE FAMILY.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Barack Obama's campaign for the U.S. presidency has generated huge interest in Brazil, a country whose African heritage is a key part of its identity but where many blacks still struggle to progress in society.

Democrat contender Obama would be the United States' first African-American president should he defeat Republican John McCain in November's election.

Obama's progress has been avidly debated in Brazil, from student refectories to newspaper columns. His portrait was on the front cover of this week's Veja magazine, a leading Brazilian news weekly, along with a 10-page report.

"Obama looks like my father," singer Caetano Veloso said in an interview with Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper. "He's a mulatto that's looks like someone from Santo Amaro (Veloso's hometown). I've heard he's said he looks like a Brazilian."

The interest in Obama highlights different notions of race in Brazil and the United States -- who have a shared history of slavery -- and also Brazil's own racial fault lines.

Brazil boasts of being a racial democracy. Many people have African blood, including internationally famed musicians and athletes, and African elements are ingrained in the national culture from samba to cooking.

But in reality, few Afro-Brazilians are in the top ranks of politics and business. Blacks count for many of the poor in this country of 185 million people, which has one world's biggest income disparities. Police harassment of young black men is common.

"There are few racists in Brazil but there is racism," said Andre Jenszky, a lawyer at the Sao Paulo office of a Wall Street firm. "Racism is sort of casual and everyday."

To many Brazilians, Obama, the son of a white American woman and a black Kenyan, is not quite black anyway.

Historically, segregation and the "one drop" of blood rule left little room for racial ambiguity in the United States, where one is either black or white.

In Brazil, where slavery was finally abolished only in 1888, questions of race and racism are more complex.

Many people here refer to Obama as a mulatto -- a term used to describe people of mixed ancestry. It is uncommon to call someone mulatto in post-slavery United States but the description is popular in Brazil's melting pot.

CHANGE IN IDENTITY

Obama, who often speaks about his multicultural background, is perhaps the first U.S. political figure to adhere to a similar idea of race.

"Obama symbolizes a change in the construction of black identity," John Stanfield, a professor of African-American Studies at the University of Indiana, said at a recent talk on "The Barack Obama Phenomenon" at a Sao Paulo cultural foundation.

He believes Obama may be at the forefront of a new way of thinking about race in the United States.

"There are a growing number of people identifying as something else. Very Brazilian in certain respects."

Leo Imamura, a 45-year-old consultant, said he did not consider Obama to be black.

But still, "having a black president would give the United States a different vision. Obama has a lot of charisma, and that type of charisma is lacking in international politics."

Despite the general goodwill, some are skeptical about what the election of a new U.S. president would mean for them.

Although allies, Brazil and the United States have a number of differences from trade to how to deal with leftist leaders like Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Obama has yet to spell out a detailed vision for U.S. policy in Latin America, a region that current U.S. President George W. Bush is widely viewed as having paid too little attention to.

SISOK INES ON A MAGAZINE.

She´s one of the discipules of Master Leo Imamura in Rio, and she is also a member of Moy Yat Family since 1999. Sitaigung Moy Yat and Sitaipo Helen Moy in their latest visit to Rio, went to her house and spent some time.
Her name is Ines Braconnot, my Sisok. And this week , she appeared on a very famous magazine in Brazil called ´Revista VEJA´ [ something like ´Must see magazine´ .. ok.. ^ ^´] .. So, the review is about ´RAW FOOD´ or ´Life food´. A kind of food which dont need to be warmed up with fire under that.

So, it´s about how the health of Sisok got better after she left the meat, oil,sugar, etc.. and start to make all of her food more green.
Know shes one of pionners of this kind of food in Rio. Is not about vegetarian food only, cause you dont need fire. You just eat the way it is.

So, I´m giving congratulations to Sisok for the review on the magazine.

VING TSUN FOR AFRICA

Hello Moy Yat Family,

I´m here today, to share with you, the first pictures sent by Sifu Julio Camacho, of his second trip to Angola.

Hello Moy Yat Family,

A post that I was in debt.. but now I bring for you, with pictures of Sisok Diego Guadelupe,Moy Dai Lap, and Felipe Mury.

So,as I said before in a older post,Sigung Leo Imamura came to our city last April, to our anual meeting, with a lot of trainning, kung fu life and all the things..

So, better than my words, is show the pictures..

A relax moment, some hours later, at the Paula Gama´s house. Paula , Moy Gam Ma, is a very close Dai gee of Sifu Julio Camacho. And she and her adorable husband, Gui, openned their residence for Kung Fu Family have a very delicious dinner. And thats me standing and dressing pink with my fiancée,Karol, at my back.
Now, my dear Simo, Mrs. Daniela Camacho, talks about the adventures of beeing a mother of two children.. hehe,very nice stories.And my fiancée, Karol, is paying a lot of attention, but me for a while just enjoying the stories.. hehe.. I still wanna a Nintendo Wii for me..it´s too early..hehe

And now, some minutes later, EVERYBODY WAS KUNG FU FIGHTING..
The great Sisok Ursula Lima, Moy Lin Ma. Had a little baby a month ago called Rebeka. And she showed up at Mogun during the trainning for her Sifu, Master Leo Imamura, have the chance to know the Little Rebeka.

In the afternoon of the same day, was the time to Sigung makes his open speech at Gama Filho University´s Auditorium, in the Downtown Mall.
A lot of people was there even before the speech starts.. NICE.
Sigung and Sifu in da house. We´re starting.
The speech , was indeed , some kind of talk show. How can I Say? My Sifu, master Julio Camacho, maked some questions about Ving Tsun and related themes, and Sigung tried to answer all of them. And at the final of that, people was allowed to make questions to Sigung too.
“ How could you take from simbolic fight movements, significant experiences for you life outside de Mogun? ”
With a little demonstration with Sisok Diego Guadelupe,Moy Dai Lap. Sigung Leo Imamura, tried to explain that for the audiences with movements of Ving Tsun System.
Sunday morning is time to go to the beach and trainning..
Sigung was drinking some water cause was very sunny in that morning. My young kung fu brother, Silva, Moy Chi Yau Si, is at his side. But even looking like a bad boy in this pic, Silva is a very sweety guy..
I just think that the sun light was on his eyes.. hehe
Sunday mornigns in Rio, when it´s sunny,everyone goes to the beach. And this picture is like a surprise , cause you dont see ordinary people around the Family watching the trainning.
Sometime ago, in another trainning at the beach, we all were doing the Siu Nim Tao in front of the Ocean. At the same Beach: Barra da Tijuca. As you see, our uniforms are black, and when we were doing the siu Nim Tao, a couple stop next to someone of the Family and ask:
“Hey, the movements are very beautiful, but, why dont you use white color? So, you could represent peace in our violent city.”

When Sifu knew about that some days later, he said:

“That was funny, cause White in some countries of East, means Death or something related. If we were dressing White color and doing the Siu Nim Tao in front of ocean, a couple of japaneses for example could think that someone has died.”

hehe..

One of the last trainnings before Sigung leaves the city. In this pic, we can see at left, Vladmir Anchieta,Moy Wu Lai. Méier Studio´s Jing Tong Borning

Okay, sorry for take so long time to writing down all the events of Rio´s Moy Yat Family here, but I had some questions to work.. but now, I´m back to the BLOG..

So, today, was a great day in Méier Studio, in North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. ´Cause a picture of Sitaigung Moy Yat was put on the wall , and began what is gone be the Jing Tong of Méier Studio.

That was a really excited moment, cause if you stop and think, a man decades ago, came out from China, went to the States, and years and years after that, his picture has put on a wall , in another continent, as a signal that his beautiful work with people and Ving Tsun system, still go on nowadays...

First of all, Mister João, a man who works at the place where the Studio is located, gives to Felipe Mury, my Kung Fu young brother some lessons of how to keep the picture on the wall without riscs of fall down.. hehe the always nice Mister João..
After that it´s time of Felipe Mury put the red silk above the Sitaigung´s picture.
That´s me doing the last ajusts on the visual..
And finally, we have the presence of Sitaigung in the room, by a simbol of his image. That image, just for be on the wall, brought a new breath for the room and for us.. Thats the energy of the Kung Fu Family..
After putting the picture on the wall, we started the activities of the day, but first, a work made by Felipe Mury, with Sigung Leo Imamura´s shadow, and a advertising saying:ROOM IN ACTIVITY

MOY YAT FAMILY FROM RIO ANUAL MEETING WITH MASTER LEO IMAMURA

Hi Moy Yat Family,

Since last Friday ´till next Monday noon, Master Leo Imamura, will be with us in Rio working the Ving Tsun System.
And today, he maked a speech with the participation of my Sifu, Master Julio Camacho at one of the most famous Universities of our City, called Gama Filho University, or just UGF.
That was kind a interview.. Sifu Julio for example, maked some questions about Ving Tsun, and strategic intelligence, etc.. and Sigung Leo answer those. Beyond that, Sisok Diego maked a demosntration with Sigung, for the present people see how Ving Tsun can deal with perception of the other with martial movements..

At the end of the talk, Sifu Julio, received some questions writen by the people with their doubts , and Sigung tried to answer almost all.

As you see, we dont have yet the photos, because all of them are take by the official camera. But at the end of this meeting with Sigung, I hope to get the pics and show to you here and wirting down every single moment..

The UGF, have three branches in our City. And this one in the pic, is in the Downtown Mall,where the speech happened. A very beautiful place.

That was a big hit, the room was full of people wanting to know more about Ving Tsun, people from other lineages and diferent styles, and of course, a lot of guys of kung fu family,wich for personal reasons are out of the Family for a while...

SIGUNG LEO´S SPEECH IN A UNIVERSITY..

Hello everyone,

I´m here to say, that between April 25th and 27 th, Master Leo Imamura, my Sigung, is going to stay with the Family in Rio for Ving Tsun activities..

Ill try to take a lot of pics to show to you all, but while these days dont come, I ll show to you the advertising material for Sigung Leo´s speech in 26 th, here in Rio.

The Speech will happen in a University that I study called GAMA FILHO. This University is very traditional in Rio, and this speech will be open for the public know more about Ving Tsun.
Sifu Julio Camacho, await that each member of Rio´s Moy Yat Family, bring 8 or 12 friends or relatives to watch..

We hope that the room stay full.. not just of people, but full of questions and doubts to make the thing work by the two sides..

SOCCER MATCHES ON SUNDAY MORNINGS

Has been a long long time..

first of all, my apologizes for didint post photos of Master Leo Imamura, my Sigungs birthday..

Ok, so lets go..

My Sifu, Master Julio Camacho, always talk about his trips with his Sifu, master Leo Imamura, to NY, and how was the days with Sitaigung Moy Yat. He said that Sitaigung used to like to play pool, and it all part of the kung fu life.. just stay with your Sifu and learn even playing pool..

I´m having this chance now, on Sundays mornings, playing soccer with Sifu and two sisoks: Diego Guadelupe and Carlos Reis.
Sisok Carlos, is the manager of the matches, and a very good scorer, most of the times, he uses his head to hit the ball to the goal..

I just took a little far away photo, next time I´ll send more..

Hello everyone,

Last saturday at Méier Studio, in North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, members of the Family promoted a workshop for people from that area know more about Ving Tsun Kuen.

The members direct envolved with this activitie were:

The event had two moments: one in the morning, for teens and adults, and another one, after lunch, for children.
In the morning,Sisok Felipe coordenated that activitie with sisok diego suport for demonstrations before every practice, I helped too.

After lunch, we have the Children event, I coordenated that one, with suport of my kung fu brothers and sisoks..

The day was very good at the end, because in someway we all had the feeling of :
"misson acomplished".

Chinese New Year Celebration!

Hi, here is Moy Fat Lei again! or just "James Peartree"..(kind of "Thiago Pereira" translation hehe ^_^)

this is a great post about the "chinese new year" celebration which happened some hours ago in New York city.

my english is not so good to use the correct words to thanks my Sipagung, Master Lester Lau, for sending this photo and a review about the activities during the dinner time.

so, for you enjoy in a better way, I prefer to put the words of Sipagung Lester about this moment:

"...The 2008 Chinese Celebration Dinner in New York City was a hit. It was a full house. At the Sifu level - more indepth
discussion of the last physical techniques was mentioned. At the intellectural level - Douglas Moy3 gave a lecture on the progression of the "The unbridgeables". At the social level - KungFu brothers have not seen for years were able to meet, chat and
enjoy the evening. At the physical level - we eat and eat untill 12:00am.Leo gave lecture on the "Protective Vest" and the Brazilian VingTsun Clan developements.Leo had won the "Lifetime Achievement Award". Nataniel had won the "Junior Achievement Award..."

XX Moy Jo Lei Ou Family´s Traditional Cerimony and YAM CHA

Hello everybody from outside Brazil, has been a long..long time since the last post, and I´m sorry about that , but I had some urgences and now, I hope to be able to keep the BLOG going on !

Today´s post, is about the XX Traditional Cerimony of kung fu Family Moy Jo Lei Ou.
Our Family, is the next generation after Sigung Leo Imamura´s(moy Yat sang) Family.
So we are part of Moy Yat Sang´s Clan, wich is also inside Moy Yat Clan.

My Sisok, Mrs. Inês Braconnot(Moy Pei Gon Lok), let the Family use her old house, in the neirbohood of Jacarepagua(Rio de Janeiro), to make the Cerimony and the Yam Cha.
For my Sifu, Master Julio Camacho(Moy Jo Lei), this house, means a lot, principally, because at the last time that Sitaigung Moy Yat and Sitaipo Helen Moy visited our City, they went there.In other words, that is a house with lot of kung fu important moments.

This Cerimony was very important too, because we had people of the 2 new studios of Moy Yat Ving Tsun in Rio(one at the south zone, and other at the North Zone of the city) and also from our branch, starting to make part of the Kung Fu Family. These people were:

1-Aline Lisboa (Leblon Studio- south zone)
2-Kátia Dantas(Moy Yat Ving Tsun Rio de Janeiro Branch)
3-Priscila Borges (Méier Studio-north zone)
4-Bruna Lisboa (Leblon Studio - south zone)
5-Felipe Mury (Méier Studio - North zone)
6-Guilherme Farias (Méier Studio - North Zone)

Sifu call the atention of the people present in the cerimony for the detail that it was happenning today, in great part because the dedication of one woman called , Ursula Lima (Moy Lin Mah), who is my Sisok.
Sisok Ursula, is pregnant, she will be mother indeed next March, but she still going on, helping the Ving Tsun of Rio de Janeiro. And we can considerate , that she´s like a "right-arm" of her Sihing,[my Sifu,Julio Camacho(moy jo lei) ].

The cerimony, ran with lot of emotion from the six candidates to ingress in kung fu Family. Their relatives were there two, very touched too.

After the Cerimony, at the same place, we make the Yam Cha, to gathering the Family together. And also, to Sifu give the "tone" of the year.

So, today, was a very significant day for Moy Jo Lei Ou Family, and also of course, the Moy Yat Ving Tsun from Rio de Janeiro.

VING TSUN FROM RIO TO THE WORLD

Hello everybody!

First of all, I would like to sorry about my ennglish, 'cause has been a long time since the last time that I used this language! So, I think that while I´m keeping the BLOG, my english will get better in a natural way... ^_^

This BLOG, is a try of mine to let the Familiy around the world know more about Ving Tsun in RIO.
You may asking yourself what kind of title to a BLOG is that(PEARTREE??) ok, that is why my surname in portuguese is PEREIRA, wich translating into english is Peartree. So as, the people at Mogun call me just by Pereira, I created last May, the "BLOG DO PEREIRA" (something like: "PEARTREE´s Blog) hehehe
But first:
Let me introduce myself!
I´m Thiago Pereira, my kung-fu name is MOY FAT LEI . I´m from Moy Yat Ving Tsun Rio de Janeiro, my Sifu is Mr.Julio Camacho(Moy Jo Lei) and my Simo is Mrs. Daniela Camacho(Moy Tan Ni).

So, my family is Moy Jo Lei Ou, and we are a part of the Moy Yat Sang´s Clan, of my Sigung, Mr. Leo Imamura (Moy Yat Sang).

In Brazil, specially in Rio, you could see that every male child born liking to play soccer, and I was not different, but, when I was 5 years old, some japanese Tv series were showing on TV, like "Jaspion", "Changeman", "Flashman" (just like the Power Rangers)..rs So , I asked my mom, tu put me in the Judo classes at my school, and I trained that art for one year...

But the Judo classes stopped in 1991, one year later that I was in, and I decided to dedicate myself to my other passion, as I said before: SOCCER! ^_^ But the life, will take me back to the martial way, 'cause in 1996 I moved with my family to a new neiborhood, and like a movie, I was surrounded of bad guys on the street, and at school every time, and at the last time, when a big guy take away my favorite hat(A MIGHTY DUCKS HOCKEY TEAM one) , my uncle taking me home said:

"Hey boy! you cannot let the things this way! Ask for your father to put you in Karate!!"

But I didin´t like Karate anymore, so I went for Capoeira (a brazilian fighting style) with a good friend, but to do the Capoeira, you have to be very flexible, and I´m like a robot..

So I discovered Tae Kwon Do, and trainned along one year and a half, but the instructor was gone, and one more time I was lost, loving the art but don´t having anyone to teach me... those were hard times..
So, one day, with two great friends that I finally made, in 1999, we were waiting for the bus to go to school and one of them asked me:
-Thiago.
-What?
-That name, was not the name of the art that you said Bruce Lee trainned?
So, I look to the other side of the street and read: "MOY YAT VING TSUN" , and I tought: "man, I passed along this avenue, every single day and I never saw that thing! I´ll go there someday! Oh! Leo! yes, I think that bruce lee did that art!"
So, two weeks later, I went to that place, and I met my Sifu, Mr. Julio Camacho, and finally, with 15 years old, 4 months later, my mom let me join the Family. And I was so happy to train at that place

So, since that time I started to Training very hard !
This art was very incredible for my eyes! The relashonship between people, between older brothers and the young ones, between Sigung and his todai. Between my Sifu and his Sidai(my Sisoks), and the techniques! I´ve never saw something like that! very quickly and almost magic. And since them, like magic again, I´ve never more been surroundend on street or at school..
But even training hard along the years, there was something missing in my kung fu. I was just worry about the fight techiniques, and Kung Fu Family was in a second place everytime.
So, one day, a little boy that I met at the Japanese Language course where I was studing , asked me to take him to the Mogun, 'cause he was wanting to know the art, Ving Tsun.
He loved it, so Sifu declared me , as his Kai Siu Yan, and since that moment I was responsible for the little Wasserman inside the Family, but of course, under Sifu supervision.
Later, the brother of a great friend of mine, wanted to joined the Family too, and once again, Sifu said to him: "Pereira will be your Kai Siu Yan, as since as his brought you and introduce you for us"
This decision, change everything to me. That was not just about me anymore , now was also about my two sidais:

Thiago Wasserman(yeah! he has the same first name as me!)... and..

...Phelipe Pita, whom now is also a great friend of mine.

So, these two guys change my kung fu forever. 'Cause I had to run for information about tehcniques, about ways on the chinese table, cerimonies, etc etc.. just to give them orientation when necessary.
And for the first time, I was trying what Sitaigung Moy Yat called in english by : "Kung Fu Life"(Sam Fat - way of the heart) , 'cause I was with my Sifu and the Kung Fu Family more time than the usual, and learn a lot more!
Now , I´m, trainning the "Long Pole"(Luk Din Poon Kwan), and trying much more time with my kung fu brothers and systers .. and principally, with my Sifu and my Simo too.. and now I think that I´m receving the true kung fu.. 'cause it´s not just about the stronger punch, but its also about the stronger heart!
So that´s a little about the guy that will send all the news from Rio de Janeiro(Brazil) to all the Moy Yat Family that the internet reach!! ^_^
